Jay Freeman, a.k.a Saurik just tweeted that Cydia 1.1 update has been released, the new Cydia 1.1 focuses on being even “faster, slimmer and more stable”. It also adds an improved search algorithm and a “resume where you left off” feature. The UI of Cydia 1.1 has not changed at all and looks pretty much the same. One of the oft-requested features for Cydia was support for multi-tasking, this is not possible because of the requirement that Cydia run as Root whilst SpringBoard does not, meaning it could not control Cydia like it can a normal app and let it run in the background. This is just a quick warning for all of you unlockers and jailbreakers out there. MuscleNerd has just tweeted that if you rely on an unlock you should stay away from iOS 4.3.1 firmware update as it is not safe. Also included in MuscleNerd’s tweet was a warning for future iPad 2 jailbreakers. If you plan on jailbreaking your iPad 2 in the near future do not press the update button or you could be left out when an untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak is released. Apple has just released the iOS 4.3.1 firmware. Like always please do not update until the Dev Team have figured out a jailbreaking solution, as once you upgrade you will lose your jailbreak or unlock. We will keep you updated when we hear more information about the iOS 4.3.1 firmware. iOS 4.3.1 fixes multiple bugs relating to graphics, enterprise authentication, and cellular connection glitches. Nothing that significant is contained in this latest build of iOS, and if you jailbreak, you’ll want to hold off from updating.

Chronic Dev Team is busy developing the highly-anticipated iPad 2 jailbreak. posixninja today confirmed that the keys he tweeted few days back were of “iPad 2 jailbreak”. Will it be a SHAtter exploit or did they manage to discover new bootrom vulnerability as pointed out by Comex earlier? However, he did not mention who actually discovered the exploit, but confirmed that iPad 2 was exploited. I feel, it was p0sixninja or someone from his team who discovered a new vulnerability to jailbreak iPad 2 on new bootrom iBoot-838.3.
