It appears as if MuscleNerd was right as the Dev Team have just released the Pwnagetool 4.3 and redsnow. In this update of the Pwnagetool and redsnow  you can jailbreak the iOS 4.3.1 firmware untethered. This means you can jailbreak your iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, 4G,  iPad 1G and even the Apple TV 2G running the iOS 4.3.1 firmware (untethered). If you are new to jailbreaking, when you jailbreak with Pwnagetool you need to restore your iDevice which means you will loose all data on your iDevice while jailbreaking.

i0n1c has released the iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak a few hours ago. Unfortunately he zipped the untethered jailbreak with a 30 character AES encrypted password which means it is going to be useless to almost 99% of people as cracking a password would take weeks. iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak exploit has been handed over to the iPhone Dev Team, says Stefan Esser aka i0nic, the iPhone security expert. In fact the members of iPhone Dev Team are beta-testing the untethered jailbreak now. Initially this undisclosed exploit was found in iOS 4.3 release by Stefan but fortunately Apple didn’t patch it in the latest iOS 4.3.1 release. Like the most previous iOS untethered jailbreaks, except JailbreakMe, iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak is compatible with all those devices that are vulnarable to limerain exploit by Geohot.

Recently we told you that the Dev Team were beta testing the iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak, and it appears as if they are one step closer to releasing it! MuscleNerd just tweeted that they only need to fix minor iOS 4.3.x jailbreak/Cydia issues and they will possibly be able to release it. This is great news for everyone waiting to be able to update to the iOS 4.3.1.  firmware, while still being able to maintain their untether jailbreak. This untether exploit will not jailbreak your iPad 2.

The possibility of a Cydia .deb package iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak could be a reality very soon. You can currently jailbreak the iOS 4.3.1 firmware tethered (tutorial here), but an untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak is still in the works. In fact Comex recently tweeted that his last kernal exploit that was going to be used to jailbreak the iOS 4.3.1 firmware untethered was patched by Apple. Which could mean it was somehow leaked to Apple. Regardless of this, hacker xpl0n1c released a quick video demoing iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak on his iPod Touch 4G using his self created untethered jailbreak exploit using SSH.
