Many readers have reported an unusual drain of their iPhone battery life after unlocking with Ultrasn0w unlock tool. This problem does not occur with the use of Ultrasn0w, but from the hacktivation process, for those who have hacktivated instead of activating the iPhone with an official carrier.
The problem comes from iOS 4.1 and 4.2.1 which constantly look for valid push certificates, either via wifi or your data plan (Edge/3G). If you’re not on an unlimited data plan, this can be expensive.
There are three methods for fixing the battery drain Issue.
Fix Battery Drain After Unlocking With Ultrasn0w [How To] :
Method 1 : This method will only be useful if you or your friend has an official iPhone SIM card. What you will want to do is activate your iPhone using your friends official sim (or your own, it doesn’t matter if the sim card itself is old or not working). Once your iPhone is activated with this SIM card you can take it out and switch back to your unofficial card.
Method 2 : If you do not have a friend with an official SIM card, and you yourself do not have an official SIM card. For a very temporary fix, simply install SBSettings and turn your 3G everytime you are done using it. This will prevent such a battery drain.
Method 3 : This method is not available yet, but there is a trusted Dev-Team member working on an official fix for this issue. Once he is done, it will be released into Cydia and all you will need to do is install it on your iPhone.
For now either user method one or method two. We will update you when this method is available. If you have any questions, feel free to comment below.
