Apple has decided to remove the VLC Media Player app from the App Store after receiving a formal notification of copyright infringement from the VLC developers. You see the notification of infringement was filed due to the fact that Apple’s iTunes Terms and Conditions don’t allow users to install both free and paid apps on more than 5 devices. Due to this restriction, goes against the original GNU license VLC’s code is based on.
You can still install it on your iDevice thanks to Ryan Petrich. You see Ryan Petrich has decided to host the app on his cydia repository for users to download free of charge. This means that in case you missed installing this all purpose media player while it was in the AppStore, you can download it now on your jailbroken iDevice through Cydia.
Install VLC Media Player On Your iDevice [How To] :
1) Launch Cydia > Manage > Sources > Edit > Add. Then add http://rpetri.ch/repo
2) Once you have added the source into Cydia, search for VLC and install it to your iDevice.
