iOS 5 Jailbreak Wont Be Affected By Over-The-Air Updates, Says The iPhone Dev-Team MuscleNerd, a member of the iPhone Dev-Team, has just tweeted on his Twitter handle that iOS 5′s new automatic over-the-air (OTA) updates shouldn’t make jailbreaking harder. Since automatic over-the-air updates, one of the flagship features of iOS 5, could possibly break jailbreaks whenever a new version of the firmware is released, essentially making a stable jailbreak useless. However, a reliable jailbreak can also disable automatic updating feature.
As of now, whenever an iOS firmware update comes out, users need to download the whole update from iTunes, then intall it to the iDevice. This new iOS 5 method would allow users to get smaller updates over the air, similar to the Android platform.
