Apple launched the iPhone 4 in Qatar and UAE this weekend. But, Apple’s video calling feature- Face Time was missing from the iPhone 4. This is so because Apple had removed description and photos referencing FaceTime from its Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Yemen website.
However, the carriers such as Etisalat and du are blaming Apple for dropping the feature and are in talks with Apple to reinstate the feature in the future.
Some iPhone 4 users who had bought their iPhone 4 from abroad are reporting that the feature is working fine. But it looks like Apple dropped the feature in iOS 4.1 for Middle East customers as few people have reported that the feature disappears after installing iOS 4.1.
Apple has not given any valid reason for dropping the feature, but according to a source Apple decided to drop the feature as some of Middle East nations have banned certain VoIP services in the past.
All we can say is - " History Haunts Apple ".
