Installous has just been updated to version 4.0. This new version of Installous has been in beta testing for a long time now, and its developers have now announced that it is stable enough for a public release. Besides stability and performance improvements, Installous 4.0 comes with a brand new UI, integration of MobileHunt, a homescreen and much more.

Installous 4 comes with many new features as we were discussing above. One of the features that you may not be familiar with is MobileHunt.

What is MobileHunt ?

MobileHunt is a ‘reverse BitTorrent’ which is way of utilizing an existing network of peers to provide a constant stream of new appstore applications. Essentially what will happen is when you’re using Installous, you’ll get a little pop up that says ‘you have an application that Apptrackr doesn’t. We will add the application to a queue in the background (if you say yes) and it will start uploading a small part of the app, kind of like uploading a torrent.’ This is what allows AppTrackr to provide all appstore applications in such a timely manner.
