Reports have been flooding twitter today that Cydia has been blocked in certain countries. Right now the only countries where Cydia has been blocked from is the UK (Ireland, Wales, England) and China (Unicom carrier). This means Cydia will not be able to be load if you are trying to run it over a 3G network in one of the countries above. Of course this is going to be dependent on the carrier you are with, but this really came as a surprise to me. Why would a carrier go to so much effort to block a service that is not harming them in any way? Could this actually be a request of Apple, and could it happen to carriers in North America shortly?

I pondered this question for awhile until I came across a post on Tuaw that stated it was simply an a mistake from a 3rd party service these carriers were using  for content filtering. Whether this is the truth or not, no one will know, but luckily for all of you users in the UK this block on Cydia should be removed within 24 hours.
So far there are not yet any reports on why Cydia was blocked from China (Unicom carrier), but we will keep you updated if we hear anything on this Cydia block.

Luckily even though Cydia has been blocked from certain carriers over 3G, you can still access Cydia without a block through a Wifi network. Let us know what you think about Cydia being blocked, and if this effected you at all.
