greenpois0n rc5 Causing Battery Drain And Springboard Crashes
Friday, February 11, 2011 1:13 PM
Last week, the long awaited greenpois0n rc5 iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak was finally released by the Chronic Dev Team. A week later, some issues and bugs have surfaced. Though I tried my best to fix all possible issues and errors the users must be facing, but still some bugs have crept in. Even, I have noticed that with the current greenpois0n rc5 jailbreak, my battery life has significantly decreased and Springboard crashes have become frequent.
Now there have been many reports of battery loss with greenpois0n rc5, but it does not apply to everyone. The only explanation for the battery drain issue is, this is something in the current greenpois0n rc5 jailbreak is either having something running in the background, or there is an unintentional link with standby and usage times.
There have also been reports of some random Springboard crashes, but this is usually common with jailbreaking. Also, some tweaks and Cydia apps have been reported to be faulty and not working, but there has been no further explanation, as this may be something different, not linked to greenpois0n rc5 itself.
If you had any problems after you jailbroke your iOS Device with greenpois0n rc5 , be sure to tip us below.

I have also jailbroken my iPhone 4 with greenpois0n rc5, since then I have seen battery draining quickly and frequent springboard crashes.

I don't seem to have any issues. In fact it was an easy install since version 1 for Mac. I have iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.1... I think they are doing a great job and much appreciated!

same here. Right now i'm running Greenpois0n RC6.1 Final, and it seems slightly better than when I was using RC5 beta, but still the battery drain is a lot worse than when I was still using iOS 3.1.3.......I'm gonna have to try out sn0wbreeze with the custom firmware, but that means a restore and i'll have to sync everything all over again which is a pain.......

Yeah, you can use sn0wbreeze as it makes a custom .IPSW firmware file which means no crashes or battery loss. So, go for it.

I have had battery drains and crashes while playing games I bought from the App Store.

I suggest you to jailbreak your iDevice with PwnageTool OR sn0wbreeze as they don't hamper with your battery life at all and apps and games don't crash too.
